The modernization program of these vehicles was awarded to General Dynamics Land Systems Canada in October 2011. It covers the upgrade of 550 light armored vehicles for a total of $ 1.064 billion. The life of the vehicles will be extended until 2035.

Thales Canada employs 1,300 people across the country, including Montreal and Quebec. It was not clear whether the contract would affect the number of employees at its Montreal facility, located in the borough of Saint-Laurent.
