This turret incorporates many electronic devices such as a sighting system diurnal / nocturnal transmissions C4I, a fire control system "Topaz", a digital mapping of the battlefield, a ballistic computer, an inertial guidance system type " Talin 5000 "and a GPS.The turret can shoot 360 degrees in azimuth and +80 ° and -3 ° site. Automatic loading allows a rate of fire from July to October c / min depending on the ammunition used, the maximum capacity level from August to December kilometers. The turret has a gun in UKM 2000D coaxial weapon for close defense.

Hydra 35 mm remote controlled aerial defense system

The Hydra remote-controlled aerial defense system with 35 mm anti-aircraft automatic cannon is meant for firing at aerial targets (aircraft, fixed and rotary-wing, manned and unmanned, cruise missile) flying at very low, low to medium altitudes.

The Hydra system is also capable of destroying lightly armored land and naval surface targets.

Coupled with aerial defense command and control unit (e.g. Blenda) the Hydra constitutes an air defense fire unit.

Target tracking data are being received through the command and control vehicle, worked out by passive sensors, battery-powered to avoid thermal signature of tha APU. This enables stealth operating mode, contributing to low possibikity of detection.

Polish Firm Shows Optionally Manned Helicopter

PZL-Świdnik SA, the Polish helicopter manufacture owned by Italy’s AgustaWestland, has shown the prototype of an optionally manned helicopter designed for military missions.
The SW-4 ‘Solo’ Rotorcraft Unmanned Air System/Optionally Piloted Helicopter (RUAS/OPH) is based on the firm’s SW-4 single-engine helicopter and is designed to carry out manned and unmanned missions over land and sea, AgustaWestland said in a statement.
In its unmanned configuration, the firm envisages the helicopter being able to undertake such missions as maritime, border and battlefield surveillance; target acquisition and reconnaissance; homeland security, environmental monitoring, ground survey and mapping, disaster and battle damage assessment and cargo supply.

In the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to see Rosomak (Polish for Wolverine), which is a locally produced Polish version of the Patria AMV. Eurocopter brings modern and combat proven EC725 helicopter to Poland's MSPO International Defense Industry Exhibition

Eurocopter’s solution for the Polish Armed Forces will be the theme of its participation at next week’s MSPO International Defense Industry Exhibition at Kielce, Poland, which is to include the display of a combat proven multi-role EC725

As the latest and most advanced member of Eurocopter’s 11-ton military product line, the EC725 has become a rotorcraft of choice in the modernization of military forces’ helicopter fleets worldwide. Customers include France, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan– with negotiations underway for acquisitions by additional countries.

The EC725’s capabilities in challenging operating conditions are demonstrated by the rotorcraft’s current Afghanistan deployment by France, as well as its performance during France’s role in NATO-led operations during the Libyan military campaign.

A joint Eurocopter/French Air Force briefing on the EC725’s operational experience in Afghanistan is planned at MSPO on the exhibition’s opening day, September 3. Designed to fly under the most extreme weather conditions, its avionics includes highly advanced four-axis autopilot with full flight envelope protection. On Wednesday, August 22, Minister of National Defence Tomasz Siemoniak participated in the ceremony organised on the occasion of receiving the transport aircraft C-130 Hercules No. 1505 as a part of equipment of the 33rd Transport Air Base in Powidz.

During the ceremony held in the Powidz Air Base the US Ambassador to Poland Lee A. Feinstein, the 1st Deputy of the Chief of General Staff LtGen Mieczyslaw Gocu? and Polish Air Force Commander LtGen pilot Lech Majewski were also present. Poland peels back layers on secret CIA prison for suspected terrorists

STARE KIEJKUTY, Poland — On an idyllic lake surrounded by woods and a double row of mesh-and-razor-wire fences about 100 miles north of Warsaw, there stands a secluded villa that the CIA once used to interrogate – and allegedly torture – top al Qaida suspects.
On the grounds of the Polish intelligence-training academy and nicknamed “Markus Wolf” for the former East German spy chief, it’s the focal point for a top-secret probe that Polish prosecutors have launched into how their government tolerated rampant violations of international and Polish law.
If former officials are brought to trial, or if the stacks of classified files in the prosecutors’ offices are made public, the result will be revelations about an American anti-terrorism operation whose details U.S. officials are fighting to keep secret.
Already the prosecutor has charged Zbigniew Siemiatkowski, Poland’s former interior minister and intelligence chief, with unlawful detention and corporal punishment for allowing the CIA to operate at Stare Kiejkuty from December 2002 to September 2003.
And the prosecutor’s office has given victim status in the case to two men the U.S. is holding indefinitely at Guantanamo: Abd al Rahim al Nashiri, a Saudi charged with masterminding the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen in 2000, and Abu Zubaydah, whom the Bush administration once described as the third-ranking leader of al Qaida but who may have been only a safe house minder. Nashiri faces a possible death sentence; Abu Zubaydah, who’s been held for 10 years, hasn’t been charged.

Poland to Replace Su-22 Bombers with UCAV

Poland is planning to replace its obsolete Soviet-built Sukhoi Su-22 strike aircraft with an unmanned strike aircraft (UCAV) system, Deputy Defense Minister Waldemar Skrzypczak told TVN24 television on Tuesday.

"We are looking at possibly swapping some of our Su-22 fleet for long-range pilotless systems with high strike capability," Skrzypczak said on the Poland and World program. Skrzypczak has responsibility for defense procurement.
