Beijing on Friday called the "calm and restraint" after Pyongyang threatened to denounce the armistice agreement ending the Korean War in 1953 and raised the specter of a "thermonuclear war".
"China calls on all parties to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from any action likely to aggravate tensions," said Ms. Hua Chunying, a spokesman for China's diplomacy.
Confident the "anxiety" in Beijing over the deteriorating climate in the peninsula, Ms. Hua assured that the resolution 2094 of the Security Council of the UN, adopted unanimously Thursday to its 15 members (including China) and providing new sanctions against Pyongyang was "balanced".
China, the main ally of North Korea which it does not want the collapse of the regime, called for the resumption of six-party talks (the two Koreas, Russia, China, USA, Japan) on nuclear program Pyongyang, negotiations are stalled, also said Hua Chunying, repeating the usual phraseology of Beijing on the issue.
