2012 International security Seminar Held at China's National Defense University (NDU)

The 2012 International Security Seminar was held at the College of Defense Studies of the National Defense University (NDU) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on June 20, 2012. The experts and scholars from the military and civilian academic institutions such as the NDU, the China Institute of International Studies, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations as well as the senior military officers and government defense officials who are studying at the College of Defense Studies of the NDU from 82 countries attended the seminar.

The theme of this seminar is “Chinese foreign policy in changing international situations”. All the representatives attending the seminar carried out straight-out and friendly discussions and exchanges on three topics, including “China’s policy towards Asia-Pacific region”, “China’s policy towards Europe and Latin America” and “China’s policy towards West Asia and Africa.”

Air Commodore Sanussi from Malaysia and other 9 representatives of foreign senior military officers expressed their own standpoints based on the above topics.

Major General Qin Tian, deputy director of the science and research department of the NDU, said at the opening ceremony that “as the biggest developing country in the world, what foreign policy China adopts not only bears upon itself, but also bears upon the peace and development of the world and the region. China’s foreign policy is drawing more and more attentions from other countries of the world.”

The international security seminar is aiming to enhance military exchanges and cooperation with other countries, promote the research on crucial international security issues and build a platform for international military exchanges and cooperation. The seminar has influenced China and the world a lot owing to the discussing themes which cover a wide range of major and hot international issues. (Chinese MND/China Military Online)
