Iran to Open Tourism Office in Seoul

Iran plans to open a tourism office in Seoul, South Korea. Deputy Head of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) for tourism affairs Manouchehr Jahanian announced this by saying: “We are going to open a tourism office in Seoul in cooperation with a Korean company.”
Manouchehr Jahanian says Iran’s private sector and Iranian governments are ready to host Korean tourists in Iran. “We have a street in Tehran named Seoul and there is a same street in Seoul called Tehran. Beside this, we have a lot of cultural commons. These elements can help both sides to increase the mutual relationships in tourism field.” He also referred to the number of Korean tourists in the past year. “According to statistics, more than 17 million tourists from South Korea travelled in the past year. Currently China, Hong Kong and Thailand are the top destinations for Korean people. We want to introduce Iran’s capacity to the people from this country.”
South Korea is going to publish a book in Korean regarding Iran’s tourism opportunities and Jahanian supported the idea.
In 1976, the Seoul Metropolitan Government suggested that the city of Seoul and Tehran, Iran exchange the names of streets on the occasion of the visit to Korea of the Mayor of Tehran.
