Russian-Indian hunter: first unit planned for 2015-16

The first 5th generation fighter Russian-Indian could emerge in 2015-2016, told reporters Tuesday the director of the Russian Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) Alexander Fomin.

"The first prototype aircraft will come in a few years. Then we will take a decision on its release and we define the number of devices to make," said M.Fomine leads the Russian delegation International Exhibition of aeronautics and space Aero India 2013 held in Bangalore.

The contract on the joint development of a fifth generation fighter was signed in December 2010, during a visit of then President Dmitry Medvedev to New Delhi.

Alexander Fomin said that the contract was running and the sketch phase of work was completed.

Russia is currently testing the 5th generation fighter Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) , whose mass production is planned to start in 2015. It is on the basis of this device is designed to replace the MiG-29 and Su-27, which will be developed Russian-Indian fighter.
