Taiwan to upgrade 16 P-3C Rolls-Royce T56 engines

Taiwan will overhaul 16 Rolls-Royce T56-A-14 turboprops under the auspices of the U.S. Foreign Military Sales mechanism.

The FMS deal is worth $ 10.6 million and the work will be Undertaken by StandardAero San Antonio in Texas, the U.S. Department of Defence Said in a brief statement on icts website.

The contracting agency for the work is the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division. The project is expected to be completed in February 2014.

Taiwan is 12 Obtaining U.S. Navy Lockheed form P-3C Orion aircraft, with deliveries to begin this year.


Powered by the T56 engine, the P-3C will replace the Grumman S-2 Tracker aircraft now operated by Taiwan's navy.
