French President François Hollande on Thursday reiterated support from Paris to India's candidature for a permanent seat on the Security Council of the UN, during a joint press conference with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
We have political positions we defend in all international forums: peace, democracy, freedom, the fight against global warming, the cultural exception, said Mr. Holland.
These principles, I hope that India can defend in the Security Council as a permanent member, he said.
Among these principles, the president said Holland, also included the participation of India in major operations peacekeeping but also all instances, including nuclear power.
François Hollande began Thursday a state visit to India, Asia's first since coming to power in May last year.
