The new Government of Georgia considers it necessary to expand cooperation with NATO and the EU, said the Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maia Panjikidze Saturday at the security conference in Munich, noting that improving relations with Russia is of particular importance for the new Georgian government, which came to power in October 2012.
Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia broke down in 2008 after the Georgian attack against South Ossetia.
