Budgetary restrictions gave the impression that the third and final tranche of 100 PSV (Petit Protected Vehicle) for the French army was passed to the trap. Surprise, this final installment was partially controlled by DGA (General Directorate for Armament) in the month of December. The manufacturer Panhard light armored vehicles (bought a few months ago by the Renault Trucks Defense) received a notification for 50 of these vehicles.
Support of the DGA is welcome; production lines Marolles-en-Hurepoix is being seriously hampered. The last deliveries of PVP for the French army being completed in the fall of 2012. With this latest batch of 50 vehicles, the Army will have a total of 1183 PVP. Note that the last vehicles delivered are standard Mk3, providing mine protection improved. The last hundred vehicles delivered is also equipped with turret WASP (Weapon Under Armor for Self Protection). Teleoperated for better protection of the crew, the WASP implements a 7.62 mm machine gun coupled with a spotting scope and outcome of sight infrared FELIN Sagem.
PVP has also debuted on the export market with an order for Chile, Romania and Togo. RTD Group is in advanced discussions on a sales prospect in the Middle East.
PVP is now proven operations: Afghanistan, Georgia (Gendarmerie), Lebanon, Mali. On this last stage, the PVP is deployed as part of a BRB (Brigade Reconnaissance Battery), a multi-sensor detachment. The vehicle is in the frame with various reconnaissance equipment, dedicated electronic warfare (listening and location) and carrier DRAC (Drone range reconnaissance EADS).
