IAI Wins Brazilian Tanker Competition

Official Rating - FAB Closes Selection Process for Tankers

BRASILIA --- The Air Force Command HAS completed the selection process of the two broad Which aircraft will replace the KC-137 operated by the 2nd Squadron of the 2nd Transportation Group (2/2 GT).

The winning proposal was made by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Which will convert two Boeing 767-300ER commercial aircraft into refueling platforms able of performing, strategic troop and cargo transport, and Aeromedical Evacuation, selon the Requirements Formulated by the Brazilian Air Force .

The KC-X2 Project, as the process of the replacement aircraft was designated, was, established by the Air Force General Staff (Emaer) in 2008 and Conducted by the Program Coordinating Committee Combat Aircraft (COPAC), who Sought the best solutions on the market , and Operational Requirements Considering technical, logistics, industrial and technological business and compensation for the Brazilian state.


The KC-137s form Were Manufactured in the 1960s and incorporated into the FAB in 1986, and since then HAD beens employed in various operational and mission of great importance Humanitarian for the Brazilian Air Force and Brazil.
