The Assistant Secretary of Defense in charge of the strategies of the United States in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Thursday January 17 the delegation headed by Kathleen Hicks, Deputy Secretary of Defense in charge of the strategies of the United States.

Expressing its appreciation for his first visit to Azerbaijan, Hicks stated that the participation of Azerbaijan in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan and its contributions to the country, were highly appreciated by the United States.

Ms. Hicks insisted that U.S. interests are expanding ties between our countries defense and achieve these linkages in strategic cooperation. She stressed the importance of defining directions of cooperation in this field and the mutual exchange of ideas.

Expressing his pleasure the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the United States in various areas, the President said that cooperation between countries in the defense sector has a long history and a source of satisfaction. Noting the role of defense cooperation in the development of bilateral relations, President Aliyev stressed the importance of cooperation in regional security and energy and to improve stability.


The President expressed his confidence in the expansion of bilateral relations in various fields, including defense.
