The AN/SPN-43C ASR is a radar system used for Carrier Air Traffic Control with 50-mile search capability up to an altitude of 30,000 feet. It ensures safe and expeditious shipboard approach, departure, and marshal control to support fleet operations for aircraft carrier and amphibious assault ships.
NAVAIR tentatively plans to conduct a full and open competition for the AN/SPN-43C ASR Replacement in fiscal year (FY) 2014, or early FY 2015, in anticipation of an engineering and manufacturing development contract award by June 30, 2015.
In order to permit NAVAIR to conduct market research and assess industry interest in this requirement, an Industry Day for the AN/SPN-43C ASR Replacement will be held Feb. 26-28 at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division in St. Inigoes, Md. (Webster Field).
The market research gathered during the Industry Day will be utilized by the government to identify the air traffic control capabilities that presently exist in the marketplace.
A general session open to all interested parties will be conducted during the morning of Feb. 26. This general session will address the current status of the AN/SPN-43C ASR Replacement effort, discuss known operational environments for the replacement, discuss a notional schedule for conducting the full and open competition for the radar replacement, and receive vendor feedback.
In addition, potential prime contractors for the AN/SPN-43C ASR Replacement will be afforded the opportunity for one-on-one discussions with the government. These one-on-one sessions will be held during the afternoon of Feb. 26 and all day Feb. 27 and 28.
