Iran can produce highly enriched uranium without being detected

The Iranian regime can produce highly enriched uranium to build an atomic bomb without being detected, said Tuesday the U.S. national intelligence chief.

While Tehran has made progress in advancing its controversial nuclear program, we believe it can safely divert materials and produce weapons-grade uranium without its activities are discovered, said James Clapper in an annual report on security threats to the U.S. Congress.

Enrichment activities of the Iranian regime are monitored closely supervised by the organization dedicated to the UN, the International Atomic Energy Agency, as well as the intelligence services of the United States and other countries.

The U.S. intelligence report reported some progress in uranium enrichment in Iran.

Iran has made progress over the last year and the country is therefore in a better position to produce, if that was his choice, own uranium to make a nuclear bomb, with its central and stocks, the report said.

The paper shows, however, as did a previous intelligence report last year, the regime of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has not yet decided to build nuclear weapons and that its policy is based on an approach weighing the advantages and disadvantages of a rise in a nuclear conflict.

We do not know if Iran will eventually decide to build nuclear weapons, concluded James Clapper.

According to him, the United States and its allies have the means to exert pressure to ensure that this decision was taken since the Iranian leadership, remaining primarily concerned with maintaining their place in power, measure the risk of their choice.

Therefore, the Iranian leadership does not seek to enter into direct confrontation with the United States, said Mr. Clapper.
