Paramarine
advanced marine design software, developed by QinetiQ GRC, has been
selected by the Egyptian Military Technical College (MTC) to support the
teaching of ship and submarine design. MTC is one of Egypt’s leading
technical colleges and has evolved into a comprehensive teaching centre
of national and international prominence.
MTC offers a wide range of courses including electrical, mechanical chemical, aerospace and civil and architectural engineering, offering more degree programs than any other college of engineering in the country. MTC also ranks among the top research facilities in Egypt. The college's faculty and students are involved in more than 30 research projects in fields ranging from biotechnology to materials, from the environmental friendly power resources to satellite communications, and from transportation to information technology serving both the military and civil sectors.
Paramarine is based on over 20 years’ experience in commercial and defence marine design. Thousands of concept vessels have been modelled and their stability analysed using Paramarine. It is used by many of the world’s leading shipbuilders and ship designers, as well as some of the leading universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University College London. Paramarine is also used by 5 of the world’s top 10 submarine builders along with warship builders to design and analyse new build naval vessels. Its advanced design capabilities are built upon the Siemens PLM ParasolidTM solid modeller, which provides much of the geometric detail required to enable the accurate analytical capabilities, as well as providing excellent geometric exchange with other CAD systems such as NX and Foran.
“The selection by Egypt’s Military Technical College is further evidence of the value that Paramarine can bring to an institution teaching naval architecture. Today over 25 universities use Paramarine to support their training programs throughout the world including the India subcontinent, North America and Europe,” said Vittorio Vagliani, Managing Director, QinetiQ GRC.
