Leaked Pics Reveal North Korea's New-Old Military Cargo Plane

Nukes aren’t the only military implement North Korea’s been tinkering with over the last few years. During a recent air force parade, the Hermit Kingdom reminded the world of its deadly, deadly fleet of 30-year-old attack choppers. Today, new images have surfaced of a mysterious, camouflaged cargo jet.

As with most news out of North Korea, details on the mystery plane are scarce. But we do know that it’s an Ilyushin Il-76 — a Soviet-built multi-purpose four-engine turbofan originally designed in the late ’60s as a replacement for the Antonov An-12. North Korea’s state-owned commercial airline, Air Koyo, already operates three such aircraft.
What we don’t know is whether or not this plane is a civilian craft undergoing militarisation, or whether this is a previously undiscovered asset that Kim Jong-un is rolling out, much like the helicopters, in advance of another round of sabre rattling. We’ll simply have to wait for him to make his next batshit declaration to know for sure.
