Pakistan Navy strengthens their air fleet

Pakistan Navy (PN) inducted two ATR-72 aircrafts in its fleet to enhance its operational flexibility and reach, a ceremony was held to at PNS Mehran with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila as chief guest. Speaking at the occasion, Sandila said that at sea we are entrusted with the added responsibilities of countering terrorism including drugs, arms and human smuggling, which has led to more focused maritime security operations. According to details provided by PN official handout, ATRs are modern and widely operated turboprop platforms equipped with state of the art Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) installed. Average ground speed of the aircraft is 250 knots with an endurance of about six hours, the document further said. Veteran Naval Aviators, Pakistan Navy Flag Officers and civilian and military dignitaries attended

the ceremony.
