US national freed from Peshawar jail

US national Aaron Mark DeHaven charged with illegal stay was released from the central prison here on Tuesday after he deposited Rs2 million as cash guarantee in the treasury of district courts.
The accused was granted bail by the court of additional district and sessions judge, Altafur Rehman, on Monday.
The accused was allegedly arrested by the personnel of Special Branch on Feb 25 when he came out of Falcon Residential Complex, where his residence is situated, on the University Road. A case was registered against him at University Town police station under section 14 of the Foreigners Act.
The accused was released from the prison amid tight security. He was taken from the prison in a police pick-up truck. A large number of media persons were present outside the prison. However, due to security reasons the media persons were not allowed to talk to the accused. The court has directed the accused not to leave the jurisdiction of the court without first informing the government through the station house officer of University Town police station.
